Default NEED ADVICE QUICK...about to take home the car

Hey guys,

Need your advice quick, after many weeks and months of searching for the right car i finally found it and about to go sign papers. Ill be bringing home my 2010 IS250 starfire with black leather today. Heres the thing. yesterday after looking at the car everything is perfect except for one thing. im very picky and seeing how this car is brand new (50miles) i want it perfect.

The driver side, sideskirts doesn't seem lined up. I can the the front of the sideskirt not flush with the front fender. there is like a 1 0r 2 mil short mean while the back of it is a little short as well. so its not like they can slide it back...seems like the whole piece is short.

i told them and the sales manager said he would ask the guys but there might not be anything they can do??

What should i do? i mean i plan on putting on lip kits down the road, but this is a brand new car. it would bug me knowing this.

should i take home the car today and keep on bugging them and bring it back later to get them to fix it?

hopefully someone sees this before i go.

thanks

I would have them try to adjust the skirt and line it up more even.. No sense on making trips back and forth to the dealer.. See what they can do.. GL..

i wouldn't. remember this, once you sign the paper and take the car home, it's gonna take them forever to get that resolved for you. Try to negotiate everything before you take the car, i typically find that they just dont' give too much of a **** once you buy the car.

don't buy it if you are not 100% happy with it. It's not like this is your last chance to get this car, they aen't rare.

Well, you can tell him that this is a deal breaker and for them to fix it or take some $ off. If they don't, just keep looking because you don't want to drive the car out the lot and hate it a few seconds later.

Yea.. i agree with everyone.. I know a lot of car salesmen and believe me.. they want you to buy this car and will do almost anything for you to take it... if you tell him that you are going to walk away and look somewhere else because you aren't happy with how a brand new 2010 car looks (especially a Lexus!).. Trust me, he'll do something about it...

dont take it try and talk and take some $ off, but dont forget, these cars are painted then put together piece by piece, not 1 car will be perfect, somewhere like the chrome part above the window isnt lined up with the back doors chrome, slighty off somehow. somehow somewhere all the cars have a slight defect in them, its just a matter of if you can accept it and deal with it. but if you are really unhappy with the car, then walk, thats my opinion. nice color choice btw (: i have a 09 is250 starfire pearl with the black interior, love it! Yep, either ask for discount or don't accept it. It's from a dealer...should be in perfect condition.

Don't get it. I had the same thing happen to me. But it was the driver door not lining up 100%. They told me the same story. I bought it then when i went back i got the run around and they went out of there way to show me other cars with the same problem and tell me it was normal wear and tear.

Plus 50 miles?? man that can be about 10 test drives and you know how people treat car on test drives. I would never take a car home with over 10 miles. MY 350z had 56 and i was never happy. My lexus had 6 miles.

What everyone has said is on point. It's your $$$. If you don't like what you see, don't sign the papers. If it's a brand new car, nothing should be wrong with it, there usually should be no defects. Do you happen to have any pics of what you're talking about?
Hopefully everything gets worked out and you get to drive it home soon. Good luck.

I'm somewhat with you on this one. Since you said you'll be installing aftermarket kit anyways, I don't see what the big deal is? I guess it's hard to tell unless we see pictures. Could be actually noticeable with pics.

1mm gap sounds like an insignificant amount. are the other cars the same?
