I feel sorry for your loss.
i've had similar experience and i was watching the person run in the same quater panel of my car.. i was like WT****?
good luck getting it fixed and you should take it to decent place for the panel...
also how does it work with leased cars and accidents? do u get in to any trouble for having the leased car damaged??

I actually called Lexus before i filed it with Geico and they didnt seem to care. She acted like i was telling her my personal problems and she didnt want to listen. So apparently there arent any issues with it being a leased car, but i am swinging by the dealership here in Houston tomorrow after i meet with the insurance claims agent to double check. I'll post back what they say.

You should be fine with a high quality repair on a lease car, it happens all the time.
Did Geico say if they will hold it against you as "collision/accident claim"? Hopefully not since it was hit/run. I'd be more worried about insurance cost increase.

I asked how it will change my rates, and they told me they "aren't sure how it will effect me ". Basically because I'm starting my new 6 month cycle with them this week so my rates were just adjusted (dropped $12, yes!). So they said when i come under review again in 5 months i will find out... lets hope not! It's being filed under uninsured motorist tho.
