Anyone know what tires will allow me to launch my IS350 without the traction control having to go nuts on it? It seems like the bad stock tires are the biggest detractor from performance off the line.
I had dunlop direzza z1s on my old car and they held 350 hp and 310 torque with no spin on 245s but I can't get them in 18 255 40.
I definitely want stock size of 18 255 40.
So, anyone here have tires that hold up on the launch and don't spin?

Personally I'm putting the Hankook V12s on my IS350 once my OEMs are done... better dry handling than the PS2s, better wet braking than the PS2s, quieter, and half the price with a higher treadwear rating.

You didn't have 310 ft-lbs at the wheel, and I doubt you were launching at your peak torque rpm anyway.
The IS350 has a very low first gear and a low final drive gear, so torque at the wheel (which is the only place it really matters) is going to be a lot higher than many cars. This is a big part of why you're having traction issues.
If you really want it to stick, you're going to need more tire than a 255.
Just for giggles, keep in mind the geartrain between the engine and the wheel is going to multiply the engine's torque by 14.37 in first gear...

Hankooks have really good wet performance. perfect for rainy Vancouver.

Can get them in 265 35 18, but would rather keep stock size for mileage purposes.
Thanks for the hankook tip guys. That was high on my list before posting but I don't have any personal experience with them.

Why would you "hands down" pick a tire that is twice as expensive and performs worse when measured?

PS2 got good overall wet/dry traction, but I'll have to say get Falken Azenis for dry condition. They do wear out fairly quickly and pretty terrible in wet traction from some said.

My point was that if those tires held the torque of my old car, they would of this one too (other than the issue of weight distribution).
And MR2s get 13.84055 in first gear:

So however you want to slice it, I had more torque in the MR2, and the direzza z1s held it (unless really cold out). Though, the weight distribution favored the rear wheels.
