Default TPMS Sensors Lifespan

I about to drop new wheels on 06 sensors. My concern is that the OE sensors might be near the end of their battery life.

Anyone know who long they last?

The factory service manual rates them for 10 years of expected service life.

Is the battery user replaceable?

Jeff here probably knows to OEM units best (I have never seen mine).

However the aftermarket units I got from OEWheelsllc look like they could easily be opened. The back side looks to be a flat plate held in place by melted post tops. Not accessible without cutting to post tops off, but I bet we would find a replaceable button cell under it. A new battery and a little epoxy, I bet they would be as good as new...
Saw an older post on a Toyota site where someone did it.

^ The area behind that plate is filled completely with a white, foam-like substance that the battery is encased in. It cannot be replaced, at least not easily. AMHIK.

I've yet to read of any TPMS dying. Though I am curious if anyone had to replace theirs due ONLY to the battery being dead.

^ I believe the battery is rated for 10 years or so, so it might be a while until that happens to a 2IS owner.
