Close to buying an 06 is 350 with 51k miles with premium package for $23,995, with a 3 year 100k warranty from a lexus dealership. My question is I am interested in the Mark Levinson system but have found very few cars with it. This one does not have it, and I am wondering if it is worth holding out trying to find one. I am interested in the DVD aspect and buying the override so that my kids can watch DVD's while on the road. Is the Mark Levinson system a significant upgrade from the premium system? Thanks!

depending on price and what you can find, personally being **** about audio, i plan on doing a swap of all my door speakers very soon. compenents in every door, redoing my trunk setup and get the fly audio nav unit with a higher quality screen. but that is just me, if you wanna hold off because you plan on not doing any system upgrades i would get ml. but i knew that i was gunna do all this anyways so i did not opt to look for one with the ml.

If I remember correctly, only ML equipped IS can play DVDs. And for 06, yeah, it is rare and only comes as part of Luxury Pkg.

Are the kids going to be in the back? Just get headrest monitors instead. Otherwise just get the Flyaudio unit and use the aux in on that.

Only ML _with_ nav gets DVD.

And it has nothing to do with the Luxury package, Lux package does not include either ML or Nav

You can only watch DVDs while driving/moving if the system is hacked. The only reason I got the ML was because of the sound quality difference. To get ML same sound quality aftermarket you will be spending much more.

when i purchased my car from the dealer, the guy told me only Luxury package comes with memory seat and Mark levinson, and there is no more luxury package because it was canceled. so ML and memory seat == luxury package only

That information is wrong - ML is not part of the luxury pkg, nor was the luxury pkg discontinued.

Memory seats are included in either the luxury pkg or the sports pkg.

To the OP, it'd probably be more cost efficient to install headrest monitors, as you have to have ML AND Nav. Total cost should be around $1500 - $2000.

So if i got a Nav it might have ML.....?

does the sport package come with one?

I can't figure out why this is so hard for people.

Sport package has nothing to do with ML.

Luxury package has nothing to do with ML.

Having nav has nothing to do with ML.

ML is its own option.

You can get it WITH any of those other things, or you can get it all by itself without any of them.


If it says Mark Levinson on the head unit it has ML, otherwise it doesn't.

If you want ML and the ability to play DVDs however, you will need both ML and Nav. Either by itself doesn't give you DVD playback.
