I brought my car ('08 IS 250 18K miles) in to dealer due to steering wheel vibration at idle in drive after warm up with a/c off. I had brought it in before but it was intemittent and hard to diagnose. They witnessed it finally and kept it for a week and did a top engine cleaning, clean throttle body plate, drained fuel tank (I always have used Chevron Prem), loosened engine and then retightend to subframe and more. Now it is no longer intermittent but always at idle after warm up in gear but does stop when idle picks up if I turn on headlights, a/c or rear defrost. VERY annoying. Any ideas???

I had the service manager in Vegas look at mine for the same thing. I was told that it was from the fact that the engine mounts are so stiff on our cars. He said they are similar to solid racing mounts. The ES series supposidly had the same problem which caused lexus to create a liquid moving mount that dampened the engine movement, and he said there may be something in the works for the IS but he wouldn't expect it soon. When the car was in last month, the Regional Service Rep witnessed the problem. It sounds like others have had this problem but Lexus is throwing out theories and fixes and then giving the car back without resolution. This is not satisfactory- this is a car costing over 38K, not a 10K Ford Focus. It seems to be computer or electrical related since vibration goes away when high draw electrical (headlights, a/c, rear defrost) are turned on and idle bumps up.
