and the new brakes are suppose to give off less dust than the ones we have on the car. The car comes with high friction performance brake pads, and you can change them to the dust less pads, but you do lose braking power
No, you don't. The brakes stop the car in exactly the same distance, because pads don't change stopping distance.
The brakes don't stop the car, the tires do.

Yup. Feel is the only difference. Car still stops the same distance, you just get a more linear feel when applying the brakes. (Which is a significant improvement IMHO, allows for better control of braking).
