iPhone Nav Mod - inc pics and videos
Just completed my iphone integration mod, which is based on my original AV in car entertainment mod that I did back in 2008.
Pictures and video are at the bottom of this intro
Some of you may remember my post back in 2008, where I installed an AV unit which gave me 2x AV inputs on my nav screen. I used AV1 as a double DVB Tuner and left AV2 in the glovebox for an auxilary input such as playstation etc. These AV units were also linked to the aftermarket headrest screens I installed.
After over 2 years of usage, I decided to change things around for better practicality. The changes I did are:

- Moved Double DVB Tuner to AV2
- Built a iPhone dock into the ashtray using Apple's AV Composite cable
- iPhone dock is now the new AV1
- Created a new custom auxilary box under passenger seat that provides RCA connections to just the rear headrests only allowing the use of something like a playstation on back headrests only as a 3rd AV source with Infrared Headphones. This allows the driver to be using another AV source seperately.
- And finally, I decided to get rid of the aftermarket headrests as they rattle alot. Now i have integrated a 7" screen into my factory headrests.

Nice install!!! It's good to see that monitors could be integrated into the head rests as they are pretty small. Cool set up you have there. It's like having a computer in your car now...

Thanks everyone for all your positive feedback
Yeap it can only be operated via the iphone itself which is positioned on the dock (ashtray area). I'm currently looking into either an app that may exist or i may be making my own that will allow a user anywhere from the car (back or front) to control the iphone that is on the dock via another iphone or ipod touch. This will be using a adhoc wireless connection instead of bluetooth so that it doesnt effect the bluetooth phone that is already in use by the car.
As most of my family members have iphones and ipod touches it can be setup so that they can control video playback or even play iphone games all on the incar screens via their own ipod/iphone

no trouble with buttons at all. at first it seemed kind of strange as i felt i needed to keep looking at the iphone but with practice i've actually just learnt to look at the nav screen and know exactly what area of the phone to be pressing. and the best thing is with the iphone 3gs voice control i can launch music tracks etc easily
