I have a Vaistech ML+ in my IS250 and i mounted the iPhone cable through the ashtray and turned it into a dock.
The iPhone cable is fixed in place and doesn't move so it works as a true dock and supports the phone not just flopping around

here are the pictures of it with the phone in the dock / ashtray
some people say its too low but thats personal preference and since i have the Vaistech ML+ system i control everything on the phone from the navigation touch screen.
I also wanted it low so i wouldn't block any buttons for SAT AM/FM.....ect

On my 2012 IS250, I removed the metal grate like part (on the ashtray itself - think it's purpose was to tap the cig butts), then replaced the ashtray. In that way, putting an iphone in there eliminates any metal parts touching the phone or screen. The iPhone fits surprisingly nice with the ashtray's built in slots, etc.
