diffusers surely perform but you have to shell out $$$ for those... the 400 is actually cheap if you compare it with other manufactures especially in cf finish

...and people wonder why it's so difficult to get well established, reputable companies to make product for our cars.

you can get a full on carbon fiber one for an 06 STI for 600 bucks.... and its not just a little center piece thats barely 2 ft wide. It goes along the whole rear bumper w/ a break in it only for the single exhaust.

^^ thats a real diffuser, not a baby one.
Still have yet to see a real diffuser for our cars, instead of just a little piece in the middle, or some fins on a lip kit that makes it look like we have a diffuser. that Toms one sure isn't worth 400 bucks when you could get a real CF one for 600. that may not be apples to apples comparison but still. My friend has that on his STI, its high quality.

I think its more demand to mod our cars.... there barely is any, sure theres all of us on this forum. In the big scheme of things companys would make more profit designing parts for other cars that people mod all day every day.

There's plenty of demand to mod this car - you should know, you've seen the meets that we have in Southern California. Sure, it's not G35/350Z level of demand, but what is? With a car that's running on it's 6th year in production and parts (with a few exceptions) that will fit all of the model years, demand is not the issue. SALES is the issue. Having personally advised several aftermarket companies on whether or not to produce products for the 2nd generation IS, I can tell you first hand it's ABSOLUTELY an issue for these companies. Why invest tons of money designing, fabbing, testing, building molds, and assuming the business risk when (insert knockoff company name here) is going to buy one, make a clay mold of it, and start selling it as an "x-style" product? Ask BBS, Trust/Greddy, and several other companies if replica sales are an issue for them.

$400 for a piece of plastic is a complete rip off

AT MOST that thing should be $150 - $200...

As someone who has held a few engineering titles, I would say this is no impressive feat of design/manufacturing technology, so someone should be able to make a "replica" for cheap, and I wouldn't feel the least bit sorry for the competition.
