I got Silverstar Ultras for my fogs. It took about 2 weeks before I decided to jump to HID. Save yourself the money and skip the halogen upgrades, which are barely noticeable.
HID's are badass but I have to admit..I WILL NEVER CHANGE from the LUMINICS 3000k JDM yellow halogens..no point, if anything they alot more yellow rather than a bright yellow/white
Are your lows stock? The silverstar ultras will match them perfectly. When I had to switch back to oem lows because my hid bulb burned out, they matched pretty well. Once I got new 8k hid bulbs back in, the difference was too much and I had to go with matching fogs.
can anybody post pics of their aftermarket halogen bulbs? i'd like to see how they look before i get some myself. thanks.
Heres mine, they look decent but still not as good as HIDs on my infiniti. If I were you Id skip the step and just put the HID lights in now because Im sure you eventually want to put HIDs in.

do you have the 3000 jdm yellow halogens for your lows?

yeah, my lows right now are the stock halogens the car came with.
i was thinking some piaa extreme white plus to start out with. i want to try aftermarket halogens out first.
if you're going for bright and white, might as well go with HID. even with halogen bulbs, they'll still won't come close to the output and colour of HIDs.
70 bucks for PIAA bulbs, you can get a decent kit for that price.
but if you're really set on halogens, then automotivelightingusa is where i got my fog lights.
