Default Is there a plastic film over this part?

Just purchased a used 350 and if you look at the crappy pic, the black part has a ton of scratches on it. It is also lifting up from the top (above where it says shift lock). Is this a removable plastic film? can it be replaced? thanks!

Does everyone leave it on? This is a used 350 with 75k miles so has it been on this whole time? Do most people leave it on or pull it off? I started to pull it off and it wasnt coming off too easy so I stopped for fearing of removing something I shouldnt be.

ok Thanks guess it was my luck that previous owner kept it on the whole time. Should look brand new when i remove. I was worried because when I began to pull it off didnt look like it was supposed to come off.

I didnt even notice it until a year after I got my car lol... Since its not that noticeable ill leave it on until it gets scratched, or starts peeling.

i got my used 07 250, last month

and the previous owner had left all the protective film on
on the door sills and stuff

first thing i did at the dealership was take em off,

i hate having factory film over my stuff, like when i got my moniter i took off all the film near the buttons, same with my phones and consoles

its just this thing i have against em, i just hate it, lol

yeah that stuff makes your phone look old and dinky. i do have a plastic shield on my phone though(invisibleshield)

worst is people with plastic wraps on their couches. it's not like your couches belonged to king henry and they're worth anything.

I just noticed it on mine yesterday. I was a little hesitate because it didn't seem like it was supposed to come off, but it does.
