For about four months now I have been looking for another car and have decided to go with the IS350. I have some idea of what these cars have been going for from looking for about two months. I'm going with used, 2007-2008 model. Most of the ones I been looking at are priced at $28,000 and up private party. But everytime I check out edmunds TMV, it always tell me a couple grand lower than their asking price even with all of the options included.

Here are two examples of the cars I been looking at:

I like the 2007 SP because its fully stock from the factory with lower miles and the ML audio system. However he's 4 hours a way so taking a look at it is difficult if I'm not planing to buy it. I want to see it in person first. The 2008 OB is ok, but the mods kind of throws me off. It also has higher mileage for its year. This car however is no more than an hour away and taking a look at it is more practical. The guy also has the title in hand which would make it easier for me. I already know that a car is worth what you are willing to pay for it, but I wanted this forums comments. Since some of you own these cars, what do you think is a good to fair price? Maybe you can help me understand why these cars are priced they way the are so I can justified myself to spending the money. I think it is because I am looking at it as a out of pocket up front expense. I know I could finance it but why when I have the funds, with enough left over for whatever, and I could save maybe up to a couple of thousands in interest.

When you say IS-F springs and shocks do you mean F-sport springs and shocks? F-sports are a factory option, I wouldn't really consider them a mod. Although the ride quality may be a bit rougher than the stock suspension.

All of the other items on the 2008 are pretty standard mods, nothing that would compromise the reliability of the car.

I would go with the '07 SP. It's a stock car to begin with, so you know it hasn't been abused (not that modding implies it, just a possibility ). It has the ML+Nav pkg, lower mileage, and a factory upgraded exhaust. This could be the F-sport or Lexus HKS. If it's the later, you'll be a lucky guy since it's a rare exhaust and there's a huge demand for it in the classifieds. If you don't like it, you can always sell it and pick up someones OEM exhaust for free. I'm sure many people wouldn't mind clearing out their garage space.

Well to think about it, any MODS on our IS is limited.. but just make sure no engine work know what i mean.. Kits and wheels are perfectly fine to purchase IMO, plus you save some money, cause it seems like you going to mod anyways, but make sure you purchase with the stock parts, if you ever decide to go that route.. GL with your purchase!

Your right. I just consider those mods because they don't come from the factory pre installed? I'll ask him when I go take a look at the car if those are the F sport spring and shocks. Do you know how much those spring and shocks go for?

The prices listed for those cars with those specs are fair pricing for private party?

i agree! the lower mileage and upgraded factory exhaust would be the major selling points. personally i love obsidian, but starfire pearl is one of those colors that would easily be my choice if obsidian was not available. stock cars dont tend to be pushed to the limits, from what i've seen- typically just daily driven.

as for seeing the obsidian, ask about any TSBs or service work done. it does seem awfully high in mileage for a car thats been on the roads for less than a full two years. but for practically the same price, id go with the starfire pearl, even though its a year older. best of luck on your purchase!

If that is the case with the 2007 being worth $29,000+. I should see if the 2008 can be sold at $25,000. I figured in the high mileage, no ML audio system, and no factory upgrade exhaust. He said he has a 6 year, 60,000 miles powertrain warranty. Since it has 38,000+ miles, im only 22,000 miles away or around 2 years left on the warranty depending on how many miles I drive per year.

i would go with the 07 personaly, lower miles, nav-ml, and you can get it lower than what they are asking for it.

As a reference, I just bought a 2007 IS 350 (no NAV) with Premium Package plus 18" rims and HIDs for $26,200 OTD including 3 year/100K Lexus warranty. It has 45K miles on it.
