Default Need opinion: used Lexus 09 250 IS or new 10 250 IS?

Here is the linnk to the 09' IS that I'm looking at:

$30k with navi and a bunch of add ons. Only 14,000 miles on it and it has pretty much everything I'd want. It has that whole under 100k miles warranty from Lexus too.

My question is would most of you go for this car or just buy a brand new one for about $39k with the same features?

I'd definitely like to save some $ feature here so I'm wondering if I'm getting about the same value for buying a used 09 with so little miles.

I would buy a used IS350 over a used or new IS250. Have you considered the IS350, and if not, why not?

The difference in price is minimal, at least in the U.S. (in Canada the difference is apparently much more significant), and the performance benefit to cost ratio is among the best you'll ever find.

I personally walked out with a brand new '09 IS350 for $40,000 even.

IS250 0 - 60 MPH: 7.5 seconds
IS350 0 - 60 MPH: 4.9 seconds

The difference is night and day for passing power as well.

For your convenience, I've attached a Road and Track summary sheet highlighting the performance of the IS350:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/content/...e/02073car.pdf

The improved gas mileage for the IS250 compared to the IS350 is minimal, and I certainly cannot fathom gas mileage to be a selling point given the fact that the $ saved is so relatively trivial compared to the cost of either of these vehicles.

The only thing the IS250 has over the IS350 is the potential for AWD, which sometimes is necessary in snowy environments.

38k for a IS250?... get a brand new Is350 one for about $40,000-$43500 easily.

Just a disclaimer, when trying to compare performance, don't look at Lexus.com numbers. Those numbers are blatantly (and possibly intentionally) high-balled to create more separation between the IS350 and IS-F for the "average" buyer who incorrectly assumes that 0 to 60 times constitute an accurate barometer for overall "performance."

The average joe schmoe might go "Oh, the IS-F gets to 60 MPH .3 seconds faster than the IS350, therefore it can't be worth $20,000 more" when enthusiasts know that this sort of reasoning is, of course, hogwash.

Even the horsepower at the crank is underrated for the IS350. The IS350 actually puts out/is rated at 316 HP from the factory, not 306 as indicated by Lexus.

hi. I would highly suggest you take a look getting a used IS 350. for $30k u can get a pretty sweet used IS350 with average miles in CA. Maybe get a used 07-09 IS350 for that price.

I think the 2010 wood color is different than 2009. From what I see.

I'll definitely look into the 350 as well, but it looks like right now most of you are suggesting going for the used route as opposed to the new car route. My friend who works at Toyota says there is gonna be an 'incentives deal' coming within the next week for new car buyers, so I'll see what that buzz is all about too.

for a 1000 more i would definately get the 2009 is350. 12k miles isnt alot more than 8k haha, but the added year of warranty plus updated tailights and body is worth it
