All I can say is, everyone has their own opinion of rice. His view on a better car is strictly for performance and doesn't put visual mods into consideration.
True he said some ignorant things, but he was only voicing his opinion before getting attacked by the masses
. He's new and not used to the CL environment. Opinions are opinions, no one is right or wrong.
With that said, RICE to me is just over the top mods that look out of place or say "I'm trying too hard".

"Rice" in general is not a good or friendly term when used in the automotive sense, so it's best to avoid using it IMO. Of course critical opinions of specific modifications which are highly subjective will continue as always.

well the OP used the term rice to get advice on how far to go modding his car. kind of like a chick asking another chick if a dress is too sluhtty. *****ty is technically a bad term but the question is a good one.
i think the consensus to answer the OP is do whatever you think you like and alls good.

I love rice. Curry over rice, fried rice, duck over rice, plain rice, sizzling rice soup, rice crackers, rice noodles..i can go on forever.
The answer to solve all problems! In order to avoid falling under the 'Rice' category, you make your car look like pigeon's.
EDIT: Pigeon PMed me. It was titled "look like me?" and it said "you mean clean, waxed and well maintained, on good tires?"
I almost fell off my chair.

*MODS* its so serious here on the 2IS board all the time, we need a BS thread like this, so while it has gone way off topic already, can we not close this?

heres something to think about...
daily driver car vs someone who takes their car to shows...
what some ppl here may not understand, car shows are very very competitive, and im not only talking about getting a trophy, im talking about just the nature of it~, so while something might look rice on a daily at a show you need things to stand out... of course there are ppl who buy everything they can, throw it on the car and it still looks like crap *a certain car on dubs/skizzor doors/custom paint is an example*
