Default Paint Chipping

Hey guys need some advice. Bought my 09 IS350 in Oct new. Ordered the environmental proctection warranty(paint sealer). Now this is my first new car so never had to deal with warranty issues before. So how do I get them to repaint it, do I just walk in and say " hey repaint this"? Or do I need to press the issue a bit. Not sure if anyone else has had to deal with this, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Guys!!!

I don't think a paint sealer will protect from chipping. It's more of a low maintenance car care thing. You would need to get a clear bra to protect your paint from chipping.

You wasted $ on buying the paint sealer warranty. I highly doubt it covers getting the car repainted, but read over the fine print first.

Unless it was insanely expensive, it won't cover chipping.

It was a little more then $1000, not insanely expensive but enough where I want them to repaint the chips. It says specifically enviromental damage ie rocks, bugs etc. But from everything I've read people keep talking about "soft paint".....WTF does that mean?

Soft paint could refer to the fact that the IS supposedly has paint that's more susceptible to rock chips. I remember someone saying it's related to the fact that it's a more environmentally-friendly, but less resilient paint technology.

yes our paint is water-based, older or "hard" paint such as paints on mecerdes and bmw are oil-based paint. The oil-based paint are much stronger, but making them and using them comes at a hefty cost to the environment. Personally, i wish lexus didnt switch over and stayed with the oil-based paint, my uncle's pre-2000 SL paint still looks brand new, i can only hope our paint will fare as well with some TLC
