Hi everyone,
I have a HID kit installed for my foglights not too long ago and both sides are out. After searching the threads, I suspect that it is most likely a blown fuse and I might need to purchase a "relay harness" to prevent this from happening again. I was told by my mechanic friend that the relay harness is not needed since the ballast has an internal fuse already and the HID kit for foglights should not cause any problems.
Can someone chime in as to which fuse is associated with blown HID foglights and a part number would be great to have when I drop by my local Lexus parts department?
I am sure the connection are tight and everything is intact and what not.
Thank you in advance for your help

don't have to go to the dealership for the fuse.... go to any auto stores... autozone.. or something..... i think it's a 15amp.. or 10amp... the foglight fuse is in the engine bay by the battery.... it's in the manual by the way....
might wanna check the 100+ page book that is rarely read... its under the Do it yourself maintenance or something

Can anyone else chime in regarding the fuse being responsible for both the DRLs and fogs?
Many thanks!

But has anyone had both sides of the foglights gone out at the same time?
I am not too familiar with all the wiring (esp. relay harness). I know for a fact that the ballast should not have exposure to any water because its mounted by the bumper support and the wires were all tight and connections were snug.
Since the ballast themselves come with internal fuses, then it should not trigger the vehicle's fuse correct?

it will trigger the vehicle's fuse if there's too much current... well current passes the vehicle's fuse first then the ballasts no?
there are separate fuses for DRLs and Fogs if i'm not mistaken... my fog fuses were blown but my DRLs are still working... you can put your ballasts anywhere... it all depends.. but of course bumper support is always the best

Update: I checked the 2 fuses responsible for the front fog lights and both fuses are good. I guess that boils down to the HID kit, either the bulbs or the ballasts.
I remember that I started my car that day, drove out of my garage, and within 10 seconds of driving in dry weather, the HID foglights just went out at the same time (poof).
I looks like I would need a better quality HID kit with relay harness and higher quality ballast. A replacement ballast would run me $30 or so anyway, while a brand new HID kit from a reputable vendor would cost under $60. Any other suggestions?
A big thank you to those who offered suggestions, shared their experiences, and provided insights. I appreciate all the information and help.
