$85 for an oil change at the Stealership?
Virtually new owner here finally got to my 5,000 miles and got the free complimentary oil change when I look at the service costs for their different services and I see that a basic oil change is $85? Am I missing something here? LOL To me that is highway robbery. Isn't this something where I can just buy the OEM filter and take the car to a Pep Boys and have them change the oil for $30?

Well oil filter = $5, Synthetic oil at the places I go is like $40-$45. So parts alone is $45-$50. The dealerships I got to cost like $65. I do not mind paying about $15 for the service fee, since whenever I go to the dealership I always end up having something else done. At $85, they would be getting about $30-$35ish for the service fee unless they are using an expensive synthetic, which I doubt.

FYI- My local dealer gets $50 for a change (non-synthetic), which is already high compared to a quick-lube place, but it's low enough "more" for the peace of mind they won't f-up the car like Jiffy Lube often does that it's worth it to most.
$85's just a mugging though.

Uhhh...
I pay 100$ every oil change for synthetic , and the " premium" pack. Which includes toping off all the fluids and tire pressure check. And door jams greased
I go to mr lube.. I drive right in and they have a underground room where the tech does everything for you in 20 mins while you stay in your car

My invoice says they charged $55 for 1/2 hr of labor which is $110/hr! I wish I could bill my customers $110/hr at my job! Sadly I'm not that 'qualified' so I just do my own oil changes. Oil, filter and gasket cost about $23.

i paid $80 at the dealer as well. for the first time i went to valvoline - $34 basic oil change + $7 for extra oil (5 quarts only included in base price) + $6 because car uses cartridge filter = $47 plus misc enviro fees etc, so they were about $50 before tax. i was shocked to say the least. at least for $80 i got a free car wash in and out and all the food i could eat.
