Somewhere there is a picture of a 2nd Gen RX-7 (I think that's what it was anyway) that someone towed a long distance with with the rear wheels on the ground. It was a manual transmission and was in neutral, but the transmission fluid got so hot it caught on fire and destroyed most of the car. Don't tow with the drive wheels moving.

Flatbed FOR SUURE. I lost my keyFOB one time and had lexus roadside pick me up. Came by with a regular tow truck and luckily they knew what they were talkin about and said FLATBED is the only was to tow a 'lowered' car without damaging the lips and bumper. Im on H&R springs btw. But damn this whole situation is a trip. What part of the Bay do you live in? I am usually in hayward/fremont/san jose and it kinda scares me now after reading this..

I thought it was almost impossible to steal a car without the keyfob on a car equipped with immobilizer. I don't think the driver got jumped becuz he would've reported it the police immediately.
I think he wanted to get rid of it and hired someone to steal it. Then file an insurance claim on it???
Another theory is he fell for the "note scam" where someone puts a note on your windshield in a parking lot. You stop and get out of your car to remove it. The thief sneeks up from behind and get in your car...locks the door and away he goes with your nice Lexus.
