These are no no's in my book:
ISx50 with 20"s (wrong type of car for dubs)
IS250 with 19"s (dinky brake syndrome)
Even with aftermarket 18"s my IS250 brakes looked wrong so I upgraded to IS350 brakes.

if the spokes go the edge of the wheel the 18"s will look nice with the drop. I'm getting the forgestar 18"s and I have my car lowered on s techs. The roads in NJ are terrible and I ran into a lot of problems on my m3 with 19"s. The ride is perfect. Not too soft not harsh either. Unless u do coils do 18"s.

The answer to 18s, 19s, 20s etc? is a relative one and boils down to the individual choice of how and what their cars looks and rides like.
I chose 18s (RS4 reps to be exact) cos my car is a daily driver and the roads around me are pretty shiat. I also share my car with another person.
18s on Tanabe DF210 or H&R would give u excellent ride comfort for the drop they provide, any lower might be compromising.
On the other hand, if you like it hot and slamming, go 19s or 20s but i think 20 is abit big.

I have been looking at the CR Kai, but wasn't sure what Spec to get. I really like your set up, and it looks really nice.
