just to make it clear, the person in charge, his name is Alan, and [url=http://www.shinlong.tw/map.html]THIS[/ur] is his company in Taiwan, and he's using one of the lazer machine there (they're not an automotive company) to do the lazer work mostly as a "favor" for the IS250Post Club members in Taiwan.
btw, he actually just lowered the charge from $800 NTD (about $24 USD) to $500 NTD (about $16 USD), and that's for BOTH calipers; for those that complaint about rust, you can clear-coat it yourself afterwards if you worry so much, but if you can ask your Mandarin speaking friend to translate the conversation in the video clip on the first page you would understand it won't rust the caliper, it's explained there.

Lol I dunno if he can compete with those prices though.

people that were there filming this actually put their hands over and it didn't do any damage; it's because the focal point of the lazer wasn't on the hand, if you just swing your hand over it, it's not going to do any instant damage.

seeing as to how i might head over to the other side of the pacific this summer, this is quite tempting.
now, only if i can find a spare set of calipers...

Laser etching the Lexus logo on a Caliper?!
Saw this pretty cool video on youtube on what looks like laser etching the lexus logo on a caliper, correct me if i'm wrong though...the people are speaking in Taiwan/Chinese/etc, so I didn't know what they were saying...anyone know of anybody that has done this before? Would be a cool mod to do if it was available.

This is cool. But for some reason the Lexus name looked a little off. Looks like the L didn't have enough slant on the vertical line.
And I'd like to see the finish after the etch. And how much this costs.
For now, I'll stick with the Lexus decal on my calipers that peel off when they're dirty.
