I bought my is250 from a crappy chinese dealership. Although i got a great price, ive had multiple problems. Before i bought the car there was damage on the front bumper, i told them to fix it before i bought it and they did. Looked good at the time, but after a couple months the clear coat plastic layer started peeling off the layer of paint. The paint is fine but the clear coat is peeling up and it looks rly bad. I went to 2 body shops and they say the only way is to sand+repaint which will cost 700ish. I cant afford that. Any options i have? Can i some how remove the clearcoat layer so it doesnt look rly messed up? My dad suggested we get a detailing center to buff off the clear coat, is that ok? Please help /:

Depends on the shop, the material...3m or venture shield (highly recommend venture shield) , if the material is custom or pre-cut, and the amount of experience and quality of the work. Whole bumper, hood, and fenders normally in CA is estimated around $1000 and that's for quality work.

Around 300-500, like said before it really also depends on the installers. If they do an excellent job as in tucking all corners, making it appear seamless, then they will probably charge around 500. You have to keep in mind that the bumper is actually going to be precut, unlike the hood which can be a custom job. good luck.

lol....frost bite!....good one....Yeah I will just go with the repaint of the bumper....but 700 is waaaaayyyyy to much even for a high rep body shop. More like 300 to 450.

huh?put a clear bra over peeling clear coat?thats like putting makeup on a ugly chick..shes still gonna be ugly...the correct, proper and only way to fix this is to sand down repaint and clear the entire panel.

Also keep in MIND--Many reputable 3M clearbra shops will NOT work on your car if they see bad paint-the process of putting on a clear bra can pull up the bad paint and then they are stuck--they are liable and you have some painting to figure out.
