pic request - 255 tire on 10" wide rim
I need narrower tires on my car to keep from rubbing in the rear, currently running a 275/30/20 and despite rolling & cutting, I'm still rubbing.... which is odd because my drop is nothing crazy, just Tein S-techs
In order to have a car where people can actually sit in the rear, I think I need to go narrower.... is a 255 a safe stretch on a 10" wide rear? Anyone have this set up and could post a pic?
Honestly I don't like the stretched look all that much, but it seems I've painted myself into a corner.... just want to know if people are running this no problem, and how does it look.
Thanks

255 is fine on a 10" rim. I ran 255/35/20's on a 10" wheel and it was fine. It's not even much of a stretch. How can you rub on 275 with a +40 offset after rolling and cutting? I had a +30 offset and it rubbed sometimes with rolled fenders. I had +40 offset before and it never rubbed even without rolling the fender on a 10" wheel.
This is how it looked with 255/35 +30.

Shadow191, I have no idea why the hell I'm rubbing. I thought I did enough research to know that this fitment would be fine while dropped on Tein S-techs.
Now, in terms of rolling, I suppose they could have rolled it more, there's still maybe a 1/4 of the lip of the fender still there... and in the areas where I ground the fender I didn't grind it completely off (I think that would be ridiculous).... but regardless I thought I'd need no fender mods at all.
B16da9, how low is your rear? Maybe it's because my Tein S-techs are dropping it lower combined with less stiff dampening?
I dunno, I mean the Stech drop isn't really that much compared to what others are doing on coils... This sucks because had I known these would be an issue, I would have gone with a different size in the rear because I wasn't really feeling like doing fender mods, too late now.... just need to figure out how to resolve this.
Right now with nobody in the car it's generally fine, but with anyone in the back then I'm rubbing on not to sizeable bumps. I don't like that... car needs to be fully functional as it's my daily driver.

Are you sure the wheels are +40? I ran S-Techs as well and had probably 1/4" of fender lip left as well. With the +30 rims, I'd rub on medium dips or potholes. With the +40 offset, I ran 275's and barely rubbed even with no fender mods. +40 should look sort of tucked.
265's would probably fix the problem. 255's would definitely fix the problem and it's very mildly stretched. You don't even notice it, it's not like running 255 on an 11 where the barrel is practically showing.

First off, thanks for all the input, this discussion is helpful for me.
Yeah, according to the vendor's posts here, the offsets are +40. I'll check to see if they are stamped on the wheel though.
They definitely won't tuck, in fact they sit flush if you ask me... check pic
