Default My first ding :( How bad is it?

Driving home and a big truck drives pass me in the opposite direction then I hear a big *DING* right next to me. I already knew I took some damage, just down the street from my house too. That was the longest 20 sec drive back home because I was anticipating the damage. My car is only 3 weeks old too! And I just bathed it today too lol

Well here's the damage. How bad is it? You can see the impact spot and the paint peeling around it.

Excuse me while I go cry a bit

Driver door above the side skirt. If it was on the side skirt, I could just get a new one.

If touch up paint will do the job, I guess I'll might as well order all the parts from Sewell that I've been meaning to get lol

definitely some touch up paint. had it just been the paint and not an actual indentation, scratch x or scratch doctor wouldve done the job. sucks cuz its still a new ride...

Since the actual metal is exposed, don't I need to apply primer?

Ugh, I hate when stuff like this happens. The worst is right after you hear the bang and before you see the damage, wondering how bad it is.

Maybe take it to a bunch of local body shops and compare prices. Touch up paint seldom matches correctly.

Ya.. gonna give some local shops a call tomorrow if they're open. I'll see if my dealership can do anything about it. Boo!

Check the dealer first. My dealer (Raleigh, NC) has the Dent Wizard guys there every day. I had a parking lot ding on the LR door, waist high, 2008 IS, black car, really depressing. I was in for service and they asked if I wanted it fixed? $99 and, honestly, it is GONE. The paint touchup may make it harder, but they really do wonders.

if your going to do it yourself i suggest you buy primer. you should sand down the area and remove all the paint that is pealing off, this prevents the area from getting bigger. after you remove all the old paint, the metal should be exposed so primer would be a good idea

DIY paint work on a Lexus is going to come out looking horrid unless you know what your doing.

I say you take it to a body shop as a last resort or just touch-up and move on.

Whatever you do, get it done soon since there's exposed metal. Less you risk rusting

So I let my friend look at it who does body work, he says from the indentation, it looks like someone shot it with a bb gun and not a rock.

And it's just the primer exposed not the metal.
