I went with Techron for a first treatment. Put 1 bottle in at a less than quarter tank and ran it hard, then filled half a tank and put in another bottle. It runs great now. I'lll try Seafoam next but need specific instructions on where the vacuum lines are and if I should just buy 3 bottles, run one thru the vacuum lines, one in a quarter tank of gas and one in the oil.

Well coincidentally, Im actually about to go change her oil and Sea foam it I can snap photos of the two lines I go thru. Taking the plenum off isn't too bad. Just make sure you don't lose the two crush washers for the banjo bolt on the cold start fuel line, and don't overtighten the plenum bolts when re assembling

I don't know if you can still get it done under the TSB but at the time the cost was on Toyota. Kinda like recall except not enough vehicles were affected then

one in tank and one thru the vacuum is great. I personally like the Lucas deep fuel system clean. But the oil I think is 1 oz per quart. I drive it for a little bit after adding. Then do the oil change

The TSB was good for 9 years from manufacture date.

I’ve watched a ton of videos of people analyzing the effectiveness of Seafoam without any mechanical agitation and it doesn’t seem to help that much. If you’re having serious problems then removing even a small layer of carbon should help a lot but to truly remove the carbon you have to go in and mechanically clean the intake.

It may be helpful to read through the carbon build up thread, most people only see true changes after scrubbing or walnut blasting, this is after using Seafoam.

so, hes saying spray the whole can of sea foam into the intake, with the car NOT running, and let it soak for 15?i thought that sea foam treatment required the motor running.royal purple injector cleaner is a spray also, or put it in the gas? see how he says "after running through THE tank of gas, rather than saying A tank of gas..idk. im just little confused still .

Typically Seafoam is run through a vacuum line and at the end you let it soak up more than it can handle, stalling out the engine, leaving it to soak for 15 minutes. Royal purple you put into your tank of gas.

However, this was performed on an is350 which does not suffer from carbon buildup in the intake because it is portside injection.

This method is used to clean out carbon deposits in the combustion chamber not the intake.

Don't buy the spray can Sea foam. Get the reg can and cut a slit through the safety tab seal (whatever it's called) waste of money for less of same ****
