If I understand your question correctly, Yes. You will need new rubber the same size as the wheel's diameter.

Well, if you go from 16" wheels to 18" wheels then of course you need new tires. You can't use 16" tires on 18" wheels..

16" tires on an 18" wheel - the new standard in the "stretched" look!

(Just messin' with you, OP. The 18" wheels will look much better on your car than the 16's)

I'm not quite sure how one would think that a 16" tire would legitimately fit on a 18" wheel. Granted I understand that everyone starts somewhere, but I would not recommend modifying a vehicle to an individual if such a "common sense" question is not common sense to said individual.

It is your car, so do whatever you may please, I would just do A LOT more research if I were you.

Isn't the stock wheels on the 2nd Gen IS 17"? Doesn't really matter though, but yeah, you need new tires. You can goto tirerack.com to get some basic understanding of tires and wheels.

You'll definitely need new tires! Usually when I'm stock I'll buy my springs/coils first then move on to rims. That's just me though, to each his own. Goodluck with the tires bud, I'm interested in what rims you're grabbing and the future mods.
