Talked to my SA at Lexus service yesterday about using Lexus sythetic at 10K intervals in my 07 IS350. He said it's okay, he had no lame excuses as to why you shouldn't do it. My next oil change this summer will be as described.

Each dealership is owned by different people or companies, and they have contracts with different oil companies. My Toyota dealership, for example, used to use Mobil 1 oil products. The company that owns our dealership, Group 1 Automotive, has made a deal with Valvoline to carry their products at all Group 1 dealers.
I do know that here in the Southeast, Toyota/Lexus is making a huge push towards 0w20 synthetic in just about everything, even claiming 10,000 miles in between oil changes now. I do not 100% agree with this because the oil filter can only filter oil for about 5,000 miles.
I used to use full synthetic and change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles (but its so cheap for me working at a dealership). Now I am using AMSOIL 100% synthetic, and I will be changing the oil filter after 5,000 miles and getting a UOA at that time.

Toyota does not make their own oil.

Just an FYI- at least a few UOAs have been posted previously showing the OEM oil and filter is just fine after 1 year/10k miles... and that's without synthetic fluid....

5k with the cheapest API-SM oil I found, most recently it is Peak free after rebate from PepBoys. I do not want to be in a situation to defend my oil change practice if warranty problem arise. Beside, direct injection engine (IS250) wears out the oil with fuel dilution anyways, and this is nothing synthetic can fix.

I know I might be a unique case having a dealership at my disposal, and I have never had an UOA done before. But after chatting with the AMSOIL rep, he is going to get me an UOA after 5K, and the only way I can think of just draining a little bit of oil out is to just open the oil filter canister and change the filter. Sounds really weird, but I almost can't wait!

And if you use Amsoil warranty isn't a problem, they guarantee their long OCIs and in 30 years in business have never had an engine failure due to it. (there's even a page on their website explaining to contact them if a dealer ever tries to deny warranty using their product)

Yes, when I discussed this with my Lexus SA (10K intervals using Lexus synthetic oil in my 07 IS350), he made no idle threats about warranty denial. He made no claims that any of the inspections that happen at 5K intervals would be missed, because we did discuss that (including tire rotation that can't even be done on staggered wheel setups).
My next appointment this summer for an oil change will be the Lexus synthetic/10K changes.
A couple of years from now this won't even be a question/issue at Lexus dealerships, no different than what BMW and Mercedes owners already experience.
