Default Burnouts in an IS 350?

I've got an 09 IS350 on F-sport rims with Michelin PS2 tires and i've done a couple burnouts in the time i've had the car. Obviously its not the healthiest thing for the car but how bad is it in reality. i've probably heard every hypothesis on a scale of no effect to "destroys your tires". Just wanted some clarification because it couldn't be more fun

If I had michelin pilot sport PS2s I wouldn't waste them like that. Maybe on the OEM tires.

I'm afraid of burn outs in an auto. Wouldn't revving the engine in Neutral then Dropping it in D harm the tranny?

I miss my Sentra Spec-V... just rev and dump the clutch.

I don't do burn out that way. I turn off the traction control and brake torque it alittle bit and slam on the accelerator while letting go of the brakes.

like thats real healthy for a car too

As for doing burnouts... once you break the traction its ok (cept for bouncing off the limiter and once the tires regain traction can be dangerous), its the torque applied to the parts before the tires break is the danger, snap axle/snap driveshaft... real burnouts for show are also done in 2nd gear on manual/muscle cars

Torque break? whats that? ive done burnouts in my 250 with traction off by hold doing the break and gas at the same time and slowly easing off the break..is that torque breaking?

The trans nanny will not allow a neutral drop. Drive will not engage unless the RPMs are in a safe range. Also you can not engage reverse while moving forward.

This is true. Throw your car in reverse while you're driving fast and the back-up camera will come on but the car will never shift gears to reverse. It's kinda cool.

^^^ Thank goodness the car is smart enough.

But I thought usually manufacturers will throw in some kind of gate protection so that you can't shift to reverse while you drive forward fast enough. Also, you need to step on brake pedal to shift into reverse or is this with traditional automatics?

Maybe I'll do a little burn out with brake torque as smoky suggested after my first oil change. I haven't done burn outs in an auto before.

I'll take your word on that one. My luck, I will have the 1 in a million car that goes into reverse
