2009 or 2010: help me decide!
#18
As far as BT audio goes, that's because the 1st gen iphone didn't have stereo bluetooth support. It wouldn't work with stereo bluetooth headphones either. I have a 3GS now, and everything worked just fine with the USB plug in the 2010 I was driving at the dealership.

I didn't have a 2009, but I had a 2006 and 2010 and can tell you the 2010 Nav system is world's better than 2006 (which, so far as I know, was basically the same as the 2009 system). Big differences include:
Destination Assist -- get a real person on the other end who can instantly download directions into your Nav system. And not just "please input 1400 Main St.", "can you send me to the nearest Chinese restaurant" works too. Totally excellent feature that I use all the time.
Traffic -- Yes, I use it more than I expected to.
MUCH IMPROVED Voice Recognition -- You can actually use it now. Especially for phone calls. Just say "Dial [Name]" and it does it. The older version was totally useless.
on-screen iPod controls -- much easier than groping around for my iPod while driving everytime it skipped to some song my wife made me download.
Is all that worth the price difference? That's up to you. But if you're asking whether there are substantial improvements, the answer is absolutely.

The way I look at it, once a car has everything you want (being realistic), then go for it. That's why I ordered the 2010 as opposed to waiting for the 2011. If the 2009 has everything you care about, then you'll be happy with it. If you really think that HDD navigation and USB, etc will make you a lot happier, then get the 2010. It's much much cheaper to spend the $4k up front and keep the car longer than to save the money now only to buy a new car sooner

thanks for your response guys. I guess the 2010 navi upgrade is pretty significant from what I'm hearing. I think I'm leaning towards investing more for the 2010 now, and getting more money back later if I end up selling my car for some reason. and plus, it never hurts to get a newer model year!

Just for clarification, my 2010 user manual shows that with an iPod plugged into the USB you can control it through the stereo or steering wheel controls (I don't have Nav.. nor have I tried this yet since I don't own an iPod.. I'm more interested in the Bluetooth Audio where its not plugged into anything at all
