can you elaborate on this please? If the car accelerates faster in normal mode, what is Pwr mode for? Are timing and fuel retarded slightly in Pwr mode?

Power mode has nothing to do with engine control.

It changes transmission behavior... and only in ways that might be useful in on/off throttle driving.

Full details of what it does are here:

The reason "normal" is faster in a floor-it situation is that the actual shift points are higher in normal mode (as proven by datalogging several runs of each by Gernby, that data is here

anyone ever put drag radials on a IS350? I wonder how well the rear end would hold up?

Yes, caymandriver has. Drag radials will allow you to get into the high 12s in the quarter mile, assuming the weather is very cold.

I just wanna comment since I had an E46 M3 before I got my IS350. I'm not that good of a driver but having driven both cars, I thought my IS couldn't beat the M3 in any way. I know I might get flamed here since it's a Lexus forum but I'm just saying based on my experience. I love my IS though, and not a single day I regret getting it. Peace everybody.

Look at the bright side, there is a good chance that being german, it will break something. I took my M3 to the track and this happened

Indeed it is. First time out on the ceramic clutch, clutch delay valve delete, drag radials and VHT on the track...lets just say it hooked

I would put my money on you. You would have to be flawless in the M3 to keep with the IS350. I see it all of the time on the tracks. I ran a 13.70 in the 86-90 degree heat last week... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cpz4_Ooq-YA

Anyways, do it and post a video. I think we all would be interested to see who will win. I am pretty sure it will be you. Have you raced before?

perhaps you meant 2nd gear? 2nd gear runs from 37 to 60 MPH. I've also had a run in with an e46 m3 myself which I posted in the racing section a while back. Summary: technically I won from a dig, realistically it was a tie
