IS350 = STI / EVO Magnet
Is it just me? Or Do STI's/EVOs try and race you guys all the time too?
I've been having way to many EVO X's Tailgate me and what not, same with the STI's.

I had an STI try to race me literally 2 days ago on my way to cheesecake factory. We lined up side by side at a stoplight, it turns green, I purposefully give 1/20 throttle and ease out because I have no intention of racing.
He keeps looking over (by the way, he has his girlfriend, or some girl, in the passenger seat) and it's clear he wants me to go. No luck (for him)
Eventually, he guns it and does his flyby of the night.
All the while I'm cruising at 40 MPH (in a 40 MPH) just face palming in my mind.
I think one problem is, when I'm in my IS350, I tend to have rap music going with the windows down. I think people get the impression of "Oh, that 20 something year old is blasting rap music, he must want to race!"
And...sometimes (certainly months ago), they would be correct , but I've generally put that too fast too furious phase behind me. Killed a few cars (01 cobra, e46 m3, etc.), had my fun, later realized it's thoroughly irresponsible and not worth it.
Especially right now. I'm in too good of a situation, life-wise, to potentially foul it up by getting caught street racing. Mostly, I don't even have the time to go out and drive around, anyway, so I guess it's somewhat of a moot point.

Although racing and tailgating are two entirely different things. I do not take kindly to tailgating at all. If people tailgate while I'm in the slow lane (and the fast lane is completely empty or is moving quicker than I am, I don't brake check (because that's silly and puts all parties at risk), but I make it a point to stay slow and hopefully irritate them.
If you show your frustration by trying to put distance (by accelerating), that simply encourages them and they also accelerate and keep tailgating. If you stay slow and act like you don't care, very often they will simply go away. These too fast too furious types need to be going at an average of 85 MPH, else they go into speeding-deprived seizure.

you're better off minding your own business and going about your own way. let them do whatever it is they want to do, as long as it doesn't adversely affect you.

yup, had a new WRX stay side by side with me on the freeway coming home from work. I was exiting in about a mile, so didn't bother, and as soon as he got that vibe, he sped off and then threw on his hazards, lol

How well would our cars stack up against a new WRX anyway on the freeway?

STI HP = 305
IS350 HP = 306
IS350 Weight = 3527 lbs
STI weight = 3373 lbs
Weight advantage: Sti
Now, why does the IS350 usually blow away cars that are comparable but near 300 HP? Because it has such aggressive gearing, but let's take a look at that.
IS350 final drive = 4.08
Sti final drive = 3.9
That's pretty damned close, advantage = IS350 but is that enough to overcome the STI's weight advantage? Probably not.
STI = AWD, right? That's a tremendous advantage off the line.
Sti 0 to 60 = 4.7
IS350 0 to 60 = 4.9
Would I get an Sti? No, I'm not interested in the boy racer type. Is getting to 60 .2 seconds slower worth the incredible extra interior luxury and reliability you get with the IS350? I think so, that's why I bought the IS350.
These cars are not even in the same class. They can win illegal street races all day, but what about the other 99% of their driving experience?

while magazine drag racing is great for conversations, with how expensive traffic citations have gotten in the state of california, the OP should really think twice about street racing.
again, mind your own and go about your own way.

Not that I condone street racing, but the only times I've done it are from a dig when lined up at a light, and I usually cut off at 60 MPH (or 5 car lengths, which often comes first ). That's when the IS350 really shines anyway, and it's arguably the least dangerous (vs. going 120 on the freeway while weaving through traffic) form of street racing.
