Default I know im being picky but..

Does anyone else feel like the x50's speakers are, well, to quiet? I have to set the volume to like 50 to hear any decent sound. Also is there anything i can do about the brakes screeching. Before anyone says get new brakes they only have around 500 miles on them so i don't think that is the problem.

Also i want to rant about the sunglass holder but someone already beat me to it.

I never have to turn the volume above 45 to get way more volume than necessary with CD's, lower for the radio.

Is the source material really bad or something?

There are updated pads for the IS that you can get from the dealership for free, because of the dust and squeaking issues the old high-friction pads had.

Also, maybe your pads are glazed or something is wrong with your brakes. They shouldn't make any noise loud enough to be audible in the cabin under normal conditions.

yeah turn your ASL if your driving on freeways a lot.. but if your doing city driving and your going past 50 you must be deaf. cause the music sounds like *** after 48 and that's with a normal music bitrate file of 194... i don't go past 45 these days

You guys should go check the doctors lol.

I drive on highway with noisy summer tires, exhaust drones, moon roof cracked open, music at less than 30 and I hear just fine.

I easily hear my satellite radio at 20 and my CDs at 14 during city driving.

Also, my service advisor was able to get my front pads replaced with the low dust ones even though there wasn't a TSB for 09s a few months ago.

for me radio and CDs are twenty and below. but for aux input it has to go up to forty to get the same volume as sub twenty does for radio. at least thats what occurs with my car. and its at level forty with my mp3 player at full volume, without the mp3 player set to full volume i can barely get any sound out of the speakers.

Well to answer your statements, the brakes on the car are currently aftermarket. The owner before me had just put them on before he sold it. The radio comes out louder than my cd's but not loud enough for me =/. I came from a jeep before this car and the volume goes up to 30. I had the boston audio system in there which isn't that much better or better at all from the pioneer system in the car. (i believe that is the stock system) I adjusted all the options to what i thought sounded best but, who knows. I just expected the radio to be louder.

P.s what is asl if you don't mind me asking?

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I brought my car in for the low dust brake pads TSB but, was denied because the owner before me slapped on aftermarket ones. The squeals are really bad (enough to turn heads) for me on hot days or when I drive for a while. I kind of just deal with it because I don't want to throw away brake pads that are practically brand new. As for the radio, I too find myself having to turn it up to about 50. I use the aux jack to listen to my Zune so, that might be why. I'm guessing it's more on the quality of the mp3 than the actual sound system itself...

redo do sound system with 5 or 6 channel amp for your doors if its not loud enough. and mono block for new sub. that what i always do. but to me if its too loud you're too loud.

There's no telling what he put on there to possibly be causing noises/issues though.

That's the feature that adjusts the actual sound volume based on speed, supposedly to compensate for road noise and such.

I never have the volume up past 30 and I think it's pretty loud as it is. Maybe I'm just getting old!!
