Default Found a Product that Cures Brake Dust Armor All Wheel Protectant (Pics)

I know there is a thread already in the ISF forum but I wanted to tell you what I think of this product on my IS350. I have used P21 spray for over 10 years to clean my wheels and has always worked well. However I wondered if this Armor All Wheel Protectant really works. 1 can cost about $8.99, but you can visit their website to get a free rebate for 1 can. Target also has a coupon on their website to download for $3.00 off good till Aug 2010.

I have found this product works great for me. I washed the wheel, let it thoroughly dry, got all traces of brake dust off the wheel with a dry rag after I washed it. Then I sprayed this Armor All Protectant and really covered it well. I used about 1/2 a can for 4 wheels so I would assume 1 can will last 2 applications doing all 4 wheels. It does drip toward the bottom when your done applying you can just wipe off. I did not get any white residue. The trick is really cleaning your wheels first and then letting them dry very well BEFORE applying the product and then let the product dry on your wheel really good before driving it.

Here is the first pic I applied the product on 6-20-10 and then the last 2 pics are 6 days later. Normally after 6 days I would have huge amount more brake dust but there is hardly any. These are pics of the front wheels. I also did the back but did not take pics cause they are cleaner than the fronts. On the last pic you can see some traces of brake dust in the corners but I was suprised how well this stuff works. I never had the TSB done on my car so they are original pads from the factory which normally create alot of brake dust.

I will continue to update this thread after another week so you can see the difference. For me, this stuff really works as advertised and it's worth the money. I will continue to buy this stuff because it works.

6 days later, brake dust only gathering in the corners

Here is the link for the rebate coupon good for 1 free can

http://www.armorall.com/pdf/wheel_rebate.pdf

You can also go to Target.com and go to coupons link on their website and download a free 3.00 off but only 1 coupon per household can be downloaded, my coupon said it was good till 8-31-10 but I don't know how long coupon will last at Target.com

I use poorboys wheel sealant on my polished lips, works for me. Never tried the armor all product though, could be worth giving it a shot

This was discussed in the IS-F forums awhile ago: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...rotectant.html

Last I read it did not work. Could be wrong.

Maybe the finish on the ISF wheels are different coating than my 2007 IS350, all I know is for me this stuff really works, I have the original factory wheels. I also think you have to really follow the directions to a tee when applying. The wheels need to be completely clean before and dry before applying, then you need to let it cure before going out and you need to apply liberally, if you use it sparingly it won't cover your wheels.

After I did all 4 wheels the can felt about 1/2 empty. I'm not going to do any washing at all and report back with another pic in a week. So far I can see a huge difference in brake dust, seems this stuff really repels it and it's easy to apply.

Here is what some of the back of the can says,
Make sure wheels are clean and dry, shake can well before use, spray liberally, do not touch wheel after application this will remove the protection. Allow to dry 1 hr. Dry time will vary with temp.
Once the product drys it creates an invisible barrier, your wheels will look clean from wash to wash. Lasts up to 4 weeks, makes cleaning your wheels easier next time. The longer you let the product dry on your wheels the better the protection will be.

I let mine dry a couple hrs before driving.

What works even better is just getting the brake dust TSIB done. Solves the problem permanently. Free.
