Custom LED Strip with Strobing & Fading (Video)
#18
Thanks for the comments guys!
To clarify, the strobing and fading are specifically for car shows and parking lot pimping. When driving I just leave the strip in the constant on state with my parking lights on (as shown in the pictures) to serve as DRLs. My 9005 high beam is still there (with SilverStar Ultra bulbs for extra brightness) for rural driving and high beaming slow drivers, but the DRL function has been disabled so there's no amber during the day from the 9005s.
Yup, I can't imagine impersonating an officer is taken lightly.
Re: the front lip, I might be going in a different direction... standby. We'll be twins for now though.
Do it! That would be cool to see. Only problem with non white (or 6000K in my case) LEDs is that you can't (or at least you're not supposed to) use them while driving.
I can try and get some up later, but it's basically a thin, black strip of LEDs. It's very inconspicuous, especially since it's set back into the area to the side of the fogs.
Says the guy with yellow fogs and gold rims. <3 rice (in moderation).

Looks good. Are the lights white or blueish. And can you run the 4 way remote to any LED strip. I went with white LEDs on my headlights because colors especially red and blue is close to impersonating a cop in NY and if im correct they could take your car for that.

Yeah, you should be able to use the 4 way remote with any LED strip. Depending on the locations, certain installs will be harder of course.

Props to CL member s4play for putting this custom LED setup on my car. The LEDs are controlled by a key fob with four buttons - one for on, one for strobing, one for fading ("breathing"), and of course the off button. You can also cycle through different strobing effects and fade speeds. Yeah, yeah, it's a little ricey, but I needed to do something to satiate my obsession for lighting mods. Bring on the haterade - compliments are welcome as well.
...where can i get them?!?!?!

Not entirely useless since I can use the constant on setting as a DRL, which is the main reason I got them. Again, I wanted to keep my 9005 high beams, but hated the amber look. Now I can have LED DRLs AND a high beam.

Thanks, maybe I should change my CL username. I'm trying to tastefully incorporate LEDs into my car without going overboard. What I REALLY want are these taillights:
Sweet. Do you have any videos that aren't in complete darkness? So we can see how it looks with the car still partially visible.
[I]Great minds think alike. Ha ha ha.
Welcome to the club.
I added strobes to my IS back in May of this year. I, too, have an obsession with lighting mods and wanted to go that extra step further. I first saw strobes on a Vette at a car show several years back. It was then that I said to myself that one day I would do that.
