Default rattle from behind glovebox

hey everyone,

i've got some serious rattle noises from behind my glovebox. if i press down the dash in the glovebox area the noise stops. my guess is that behind the dash and where the windscreen meets there is things touching and making noise. I want to add some insulation in between.

I know how to dismantle the glovebox and i'm wondering if i'll be able to access behind the dash from the glovebox area (once glovebox is removed)

any advice would be great

thanks

is it coming from behind the glove box? i have this problem too .. the dealer just taped some insulator around the little nubs that hold the glovebox door closed
the rattling seem to stop but sometimes come back

it sounds like its the glovebox but i tried leaving the door open of the glovebox so its definatley not the glovebox door. when i close the door and compress on the glovebox or anywhere near it on the dash, the noise stops

Rattles are covered under warranty, so if you car is still covered, I suggest having the dealer fix it for you...

lol....guess not then!

Best way to diagnose rattles is to have someone drive your car while you ride shotgun, then you can mess around with parts of the glovebox to pinpoint what is making the noise...

when the rattle comes again, push against the passenger door and see if it goes away.

Just got my car back today from the dealer. They said they removed the entire dash and put sound deadening materials everywhere the dash made contact with plastics or the vehicle frame and around the HVAC ducts. So far it has been very quiet. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all my rattles are fixed.

Ugh! I just got my car back from the dealer and now it has this rattle behind the glovebox. They went in to check my air filter, so I'm guessing something happened there. From the driver's seat, I've pressed the dash and glovedoor, but nothing seems to stop it. It almost sounds like it's coming from the passenger door, but more like the glovebox area.
So as far as warranties go, are rattles covered for the first year of ownership only? Or the entire length of the standard warranty? And will the dealership buy the idea that the rattle started right after the tech had his hands inside my glovebox?
Any help would be appreciated.

Ahh... that sounds about right. I was in there trying to push on things and I felt some barrier or upright plastic piece that was lose and moving around in the back. This is a peice buried all the way in the back of the glovebox on the top shelf. Are we talking about the same thing? And to snap it back, do I just push on it? I did a little of this, and it seemed to secure itself more, but was still a little lose after. I didn't hear a definite "snap" or "click."

If it matters at all, the rattle is pretty constant at speeds above 25 mph.

the rattle should be from the plastic cover(red) not fully snapped back on to its holder .. its usually the holder on the right

or its becuz of the plastric tray( yellow ) hitting the plastic cover( red) causing squeaky sound ..

this is why my car manual is in the trunk :P
