After I brought in my car for the Valve Spring Recall, I got a letter from Lexus corporate with a gift certificate for $250 for Lexus parts/merchandise and another for $1500 off the purchase/lease of a car. Not sure if thats only up here or if everybody got the certificates.
I just redeemed the $250 certificate for enough oil filters and cabin air filters to keep me going for a few years !!!

That's pretty awesome! I hope everyone gets those. Another reason why I will always buy Lexus or Toyota.

I'm noticing a burning smell as well after i did my valve spring recall 2 days ago. Did you ever take it back to the dealer? find out what was causing the smell?

Same problem here. I noticed a burning smell two days ago when I picked up my car, but the smell has faded since then.

I had the burning smell too but it went away. It's a normal smell once the motor gets worked on it the lubracant is burning off.

So the dealer had my car for 3 weeks so far as of this coming Monday the 26th. Reason because they found pieces of spring in the cylinder.

The SA called me this morning and told me to expect another 3 weeks without my car because they have to send the engine back to the engine shop and have them tear it apart with a lot of stuff need to be replaced... So as my understand Im gonna have an overhaul engine put back in my car. My car is an 06 has 90k miles on it and has an engine overhaul for free which is a good deal I believe. So no offensive to those who got it done in 2 days if you car has low mileage. But If your car has high mileage like mine and they get it done in two days...IMO, I will get rid of it as soon as possible and never go back to that dealer again.

He also told me theres another car thats been in the shop for 2 months.

I just got this letter too, but the gift card is for $500 which I will get "in the next few weeks." The $1,500 off purchase/lease "coupon" was included in the letter.

My letter also shows the $1,500 off purchase/lease "coupon", no $250 or $500 gift card but instead they are providing me with a complementary 6-year, 100,000 mile power train vehicle service agreement thru LFS (Lexus Financial Service). Is this some sort of extended warranty for the power train (that's the engine right?) only? I'll receive another letter from LFS with more details about this offer, will see.

Dropped mine off at Newport Lexus yesterday. They are going to keep it till Sat. Let you guys know how everything went. I am considering selling the car, not because of the recalls, but I want a smaller nimbler car. It's almost a year since I had her.

Good thing I bought CPO, no steep depreciation hit here. We will still have a IS in the family; my sister has the 2010 is250

before i take my car in, you guys think i should take off my hid retrofit? i don't think it has any relation to the recall... but just to be safe so they don't take away my powertrain warranty. (regular warranty already expired)
