Default Garax 6000K vs OEM 4300K brightness

Hi,

I have looked thru many threads and have not found the answer. Can someone with the Garax 6000K post experience with the bulb in comparison with OEM bulb in terms of light output for functionality purpose? Is OEM bulb significant brighter or similar than/to Garax 6000K

I installed DDM 5000K for fog and wanted 5000K for low but Garax does not have 5000K low. My choice for 5000K was due to its brightness (closer to bright sunlight) and 6000K would be dimmer (so I heard from the forum). V-led also had some cheap 5000K low ($50 for a pair) but I am not too sure about those. I know some people had them installed but I am looking for bulbs with better visibility.

thanks!!

I have the Garax 6000k bulb and it's way brighter than the OEM bulb. The only problem I've found so far with these are the decrease in visibility when it rains at night. For some reason the white light doesn't brighten up the roads like amber light does. It's not a major problem as I usually just turn on the fog lights.

^ sorry to break this to you, but that's actually untrue. it's the way your eyes perceive colors that lead you to believe that 6000K is brighter than 4300K.

oem d4s bulbs are rated at 4300K (K = Kelvin, the measurement unit for color temperature), and the 6000K garax d4s bulbs are rated at, well, it's self explanatory.

the color temperature measures the color of the light output, NOT the amount of light being output by the bulb. at 6000K, you're sacrificing a marginal amount of light output for a cool white (w/ a faint tint of blue) light. it's also a popular choice because of its light output/color mix.

philips makes d4s in 5000k but they are pricey. another good company that makes good quality HIDs is Kaixen. They also make d4s 5000k. Hope this helps

Thanks for the correction! I can honestly say that I haven't really noticed much of a brightness loss switching from OEM to Garax. I don't know, it may just be me.

I did notice a very minor loss in brightness when switching from OEM to Garax 6000K, but it's hardly noticeable and you definitely get used to it. It's still a whole lot brighter than halogens, and that's what most people use.

I switched from a 4300K kit to a 6000K kit and saw a dramatic drop in light output. Looks wise, the 6000K is definitely , but not worth the drop in useable light.

If I had to do it again, I'd go back to the 4300K, but definitely no higher than a 5000K kit.

Are you comparing OEM 4300K to Garax 6000K?

I've seen them in person. They look nice, if you're into the blue look.

Very funny, but it won't work. You are confusing additive with subtractive color science.

Overlays subtract light, they don't add it. Think about it - try to look through a stack of cyan, magenta and yellow light filters on top of each other and you'll see black, not white.

So you wouldn't have Blue + Yellow = Green, you'd have Blue - (anything not Yellow) = dimmer blue.
