Shuttering problem with my 07 IS 250 AWD
So for the past year + I have had an issue with my IS 250. When I have the air conditioner on, and I come to a stop at a red light, my car starts to shake as if its going to stall, this doesn't happen all the time and it feels like its coming from the exhaust system underneath the car not the engine. I've brought it to the dealer with this issue but they can never re create it. My question is has anyone else had this problem or have an idea at what it could be?

have them do the carbon cleaning tsib. mine is in the shop for it today. pieces of carbon are breaking off the pistons causing the misfires.

Finally, I got to the bottom of the issue. IS250GURL you may want to have this looked into. The cam gears on my 07 is250 awd have to be replaced in addition to the carbon cleaning. I have to say, I'm very saddened by the luck ive had with this car. From the beginning I had issues with a botched prep job. Recalls on breaks, exhaust system, rotors that went in a year? Squeeking breaks, rattling in the dash that had to be fixed, a door pin that set off a warning light that the door was always open, recall on my oil that caused a check engine light to pop on, and now my cam shafts. I mean Lexus is supposed to be quality stuff, yet I've had nothing but problems with this car. I know I'm not in the minority on this one I think Lexus engineering and quality has really declined over the years which is a shame since I'm loving me 2010 es 350 loaner.

the dealer did the tsib cleaning on july 13th and it has not done it since...knock on wood...but as soon as it does it again if it does it's going right back to them. i am disappointed too and seriously thinking about the extended warranty since i'm at 48400 miles now.

360LexusES: Did you have a rattling noise when you start your engine? That is usually the reason why they change the cam gears. If you didn't ever notice a grinding / rattling noise when you start your car, then this is the first time that cam gears have been blamed for the "idle stumble" that many of our cars are affected by. Very interesting...

I never noticed a rattling noise or grinding when starting the car, car would start up no issues. The major issue i had was the shaking coming from underneath the car usually when the air conditioner was on, and the car was in drive at idle.
