Best Halogen Dipped/Low Beam bulb
Hi guys, im looking at changing the stock H11 halogen bulbs for a more distinct/powerful bulb with either a pure white or blue tint (not sure yet which will look/perform best!).
I originally considered a HID conversion kit, but i understand these are illegal in the UK becuase they arent auto-levelling or summet. Im therefore after the best halogen bulb which is 100% street legal, and looks well with my LED parking lights (White with a hint of blue).
Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions/pics.........

Aftermarket HID's are not legal here in the U.S. either but everyone has em on. Seems like the cops don't give a crap anymore. Lexus cars come with HID's stock anyway. No cops will know if you have an aftermarket one or factory HID's. Just keep them at a low color temp and not too blue or purple and they'll leave you alone.

Thanks for your comment mate, i know the aftermarket HIDs look so much better, its just that i dont want to run the risk of being caught out by an eagle-eyed cop or during an MOT or something like that!
Plus they are considrably more expensive than just swapping the bulbs - i suppose im after an inexpensive quick-fix! Obviously i need to buy some bulbs and see how they look 'cos everyone's personal taste is different - i just thought i'd see if anyone had any recommendations before spending any dosh!

I know what you mean regarding HID's..they look real nice, but modification, cost, risk of malfunction, etc. For halogen bulbs try piaa extreme white plus (im runnign them now and they look comparable to stock hid's), luminics titanium white, piaa intense white, luminics ultra white. there are a lot of options..
Does anyone have any pics please?!.........

I would go with PIAA Xtreme White (or Silverstar Ultras for a cheap alternative). Both of these bulbs claim ~4100-4300K, which is comparable to the stock HID's 4300K. I wouldn't go any higher on the kelvin scale because you'll start to lose a lot of usable light. Still think you might as well go HID, but I understand where you're coming from.

Well i went and bought some Osram Night breaker H11 bulbs, they seemed to be getting the best reviews and according to the spiel they should be extra bright and have a hint of blue.
Will try to post some before and after pics if anyone is interested - unfortunately ive not managed to make any mods just yet, its gonna be a slow journey as and when funds are available! (Hopefully some 19in wheels will be next!).

this is ridiculously overpriced, but you can find ones that are the same thing for a lot cheaper:
