although I'm late to responding to this, a couple of people have commented on this being a 'hot climate" issue. I live in Edmonton where we have snow on the ground 1/2 the year. If this is considered a "hot climate" then so is everywhere else on the planet (well, most of it anyway). I had this issue earlier this summer. So far the circuit pen repair has been holding up.
Also FYI, my screen wasn't completely nonresponsive, but no matter where I touched it was as if I had touched exactly the same spot. i.e. with a map up, even if I touched south west, the map would move a little north and a lot east.

replacement touch screen for 2005 GX470
Okay I live in Phoenix (Hot) and my 2005 GX470 navigation touch screen finally went out. I tried to fix it by scraping the leads and soldering them but it still doesn't work, so I'm looking for a replacement or repair facility. Here are a few questions that I hope someone can answer:
1) What years and models used the SAME navigation touch screen as the 2005 GX470, so I can widen search for a used replacement?
2) Ebay (aliexpress, I believe) claims to have "new" nav. screens for my 2005 GX (from China, of course) BUT
a) they lump 2005-2009 screens as being the same, is that true?
And b) has anyone had experience with these "new" screens. Do they work?
3) Has anyone had their screen repaired, if so would you recommend the place and the cost?
Thanks, I hope someone can help.

It has been working for many months and no issue at all. Also, the repair guy on Ebay should give you 1 year warranty.

Navigation touch screen not working
The touch screen on my 2006 Lexus IS250 was not working. the navigation worked but the touch screen would not. This led to not being able to change the climate controls radio or navigation. The only solution is to change the whole display monitor which cost around $900 used or just change the display LCD screen for around $300. I found mine on ebay. The dealer would not sell it by itself they actually quoted me $7000 for the monitor belive it or not. It is not too difficult to change as I saw a video on youtube but it does take around two hours or longer depending how mechanically inclined you are. I changed it and it worked perfectly.

Great Nav repair!
This Ebay repair guy lexpartsplus fixed my IS 350 Nav for $195 + shipping. You need to remove the unit and ship it to him and he will fix it in couple days and send it back to you. Contact him for more info. One year warranty. Dealership wanted $2157. 00 for a refurbished unit with same one year warranty! Ask yourself, which one is the better deal!!!

Yeah, that's what I believe it is too. In fact, I was at Lexus today talking to my Service Advisor about my NAV unit issue I had him look into for me. I told him about how I was able to source a new, used unit that fixed my non-functional top-portion. He was happy I was able to fix it for a 1/10th of what a new unit was.
Additionally, he told me he had a '07 IS350 in just the other day for the same NAV unit issue (and the VVT cam gear recall). He said that he told a certain Lexus tech to work on this special project for him for this customer to get his NAV working again. He said they purchased a new screen, and that didn't work. He then dove into the electronics of the unit and managed to locate the "break" in the circuitry and repaired it. Dealership ended up only charging $300 for the circuitry repair work. So...if I ever have the same issue again I'll know where I'm going.
