Yeah, that thing looks like it's ready to go. Do your car a favor and change it. She'll thank you later.

Since you already took it out and a replacement is not expensive, go ahead and change it.

Shouldnt any air filter be changed/cleaned yearly? Never heard of a 40k mile rating for an air filter!

Any links to where we can purchase the air filter? What about the engine or cabin air filters?

Sewell lexus

I am of the opinion (After seeing many tests) that OEM filters generally are the best at capturing particles, at the expense of airflow. In my weekend racer I run a K&N because I don't really care, but as far as I'm concerned, the tolerances in this engine are pretty tight.

If you ask me, the correct answer is based on your oil analysis. I am a big fan of blackstone labs. I don't know when my previous oil filter was changed (I bought the car used) but in my last oil analysis, they found higher levels of silicon than normal for this engine, so it definitely was time to change the oil.

I'm going to test the oil again at 15k miles, but the thing to remember is that the filter change interval is going to be related to the environment the car is driven in. If you are in the desert, the sand is going to plug up the filter faster than if you drove in a less sandy or dusty area.

I believe there was another thread that stated the air filters Sewell is selling are the new model, crappy ones (non-Carbon). Is it worth getting a carbon filter (which I believe is what comes in the car from the factory).

OK.

So the Engine Air Filter is fine to get from Sewell.

For the Cabin Air Filter, should we look elsewhere for a Carbon Air Filter?
