As to the transmission, assuming you have a manual, sure, yes.

if you have an automatic it's not physically possible to change a significant amount of the fluid, it's a sealed transmission with lifetime fluid, per the owners manual.

Even dropping the pan only gets a small fraction of the fluid out.

I'd say dont do it.

THey say it doesnt need to be changed . So then if something would go wrong because of old fluid. I'd hold them to the flames over it.

that is true, Lexus service technician said the tranny fluid is lifetime. being a sealed tranny im assuming the fluid doesnt run through the radiator like most automatics?

Correct, instead coolant runs from the radiator to a heat exchanger in the side of the transmission unit itself.... only thing in the lines is coolant, not tranny fluid.

It's funny, cause now that I think of it, BMW's have the same requirements about not changing the trans fluid. But my brother did it and the has had nothing but smooth shifts. It was a 2004 330ci. Cause no matter what, in the end it's still fluid. And fluid gets old no matter what anyone says (I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I'm just voicing my opinion)

Exactly, as the fluid gets old it going to break down no matter what. The chemical properties are going to change with the constant heating and cooling of the fluid. I have heard many people claim "Lifetime Transmission Fluid", and these were on cars where the fluid was black/brown. I am going to do a drain and fill ever 30k.....I like to keep my tranny fluid cherry RED BABY!!!!!!

Did you miss the part where I mentioned it's physically impossible to change a significant amount of the fluid?

^I believe that is true. You can only get what? Like, 1/3 of the fluid out? So you will never truly get a transmission fluid change.

Not even that much... something like 15-20% is what you can get out of it without taking the whole thing apart...(to give you an idea, changing the torque converter almost lets you get half of it out... simply dropping the pan gets far less)
