Default Resetting the ECU at 30k?

I was looking through the DIY and came across the reset ECU thread. Just wondering if you guys are still doing this and does it actually make a difference? Or is it more of a placebo effect? I just purchased an 07 IS250 with 30k on it. I read how the ECU adapts to ones driving style.

It resets it to default, so if it "learned" you're a slow driver it'll magically seem faster for a couple hundred miles till it relearns you're a slow driver... that's about it.

or if you're a fast driver it'll seem slowwww

Keep this in mind if you do it though:

If you have a navi, some configurations will have to be re-done. If you turned off your seatbelt alarm you'll need to reset that off again. And you'll have to open and close ALL your windows ALL THE WAY UP AND DOWN by going to each door in order for the driver window switches to work.

But if you want to do it, just unplug your battery for a few minutes then replug it in. All set the ECU is reset.

The car came off a lease so the person before me could have beat on it, who knows. I'm more of a mellow driver and plan on babying the car for years to come. So what if any changes can I expect by resetting the ECU?

you should just be able to pull the ecu fuses without losing all of your presets and memory locations. Oh and when you do pull the fuses, the car wont start on the first go. dont get scared....just start it again and all should be well.
