Did a search in the "will those wheels fit thread", and seems very few talk about taking the 350 down to 17" rims. So I need a little help from those of you that know.
So to begin, I'm old, and view rims and tires a bit differently than the younger crowd. Sorry, but big rims are just not how I roll.
Three personal problems I have with my is350 I am hoping to resolve.
1. The staggered design
2. The 18" rims w/low profile tires
3. The monstrous 54+lbs of weight each.
My wish is to get down to a non-staggered 17" rim so tire costs and rotations become normal, and the increased sidewall height will smooth out my ride.
In addition, my last 17" combo used on my Audi were Enkie PF01's w/Bridgestone RE-11's, that weighed in at 44lbs. I'd like to get near there with the Lexus as well.
With my personal wishes in mind I have a few questions....
1.) Can 17" rims fit over the 350 rotors? I think I read they are larger than the 250,s .... is this correct?
2.) The 250 AWD uses 225/45/17, 17x8, +45mm. Can I use them on a 350 (winter tires)?
3.) Can I go wider that the above 17x8 on all four corners, and to what degree/offset (without fear of rubbing).
Any words of wisdom is appreciated, staying on 18's should not be part of this discussion unless I have zero options for 17" rims.
At that point, I will look into non-staggered 18" light weight rims, but not until I have run out of options...
Anyone want to help fill me in to the 17" world?
Deeply appreciated
Vince

one of my friends here in hawaii with a 350 runs the stock 17" rims on stock same size tires... he choose to run the stock 17s due to the more comfortable ride AND as you mentioned the cost of tire rotation~

wow,
Sounds like this might be easier than I first thought... (Didn't know the 350 came with 17" rims... sorry, still new to the car...)
So, to carry that forward:
According to the other post, the rears would have been 245/45/17, 17x8, +45mm.
Question, can those fit up front without rubbing? Or do I have to look at 225's all around?
I guess my preference would be to go as wide and flush as possible yet not be bothered with rubbing. I suspect I will eventually drop it a little with Eibachs, but not until I get a grip on available camber kits. (I won't drop without them, period...) So my shift will be to look at reducing rim diameter, while keeping the largest footprint, and cutting weight from the unsprung mass.
Thanks for the tip on Weds rims, I'll look into them
Enkies are not just light weight, but also known for being quite strong. TDR's were another option for my Audi, but am having trouble finding US vendors, so that was a disappointment.
OZ makes light rims, but they are known for being soft. and easily damaged.
I see BBS makes a couple light ones too, but know very little about them.
Any continued input/recommendations or evaluation of my direction is deeply appreciated.
Also, too early to say at this point, but yes, I would probably part with my OEM rims, unless It seriously hurts the cars resale value...
Thanks all!

Wow, that's sounds like a lot of work and expense via 17's to accomplish very little.
Probably best to retain OEM setup for best ride/handling combo, since it was carefully engineered.
