Lack of respect for IS350
#47
S4 ain't what it used to be. Audi has positioned it to be more mainstream. It's heavier and softer and SLOWER than 2 generations ago. The reason is Audi wanted to sell the highly overpriced RS4 to the performance guys.

WHAT???? The new S4 ran circles around the 335i and runs a high 12-low 13 stock in the QM. It's the fastest by FARRRR!

Talk about FanBoys, I was on 335 BMW forum few weeks back its was so bad, not only were they trash talking about IS350 but IS-f, C350, S4, Vette's and guess which car they trash the most if anyone said M3 then you are the winner, can you believe it they talked more smack about M3 then any other car how with chip and exhaust from Dinan they smoke M3's and IS-F. That with full Dinan packages they can actual get 335 into WARP speed and go so fast that they can actual turn time back, by but only if you have Flux Capacitor installed. That Car & Driver named it Gods Chariot for the 10th year in row. But to me to spend 50k on 335i almost fullyequipped and then another 20k plus for Dinan set up, I just get the M3 because at the end of the day it still justed a modded 335. You get so much more in M3 other than speed, stiffer chassis, big brakes, better suspension etc.
Some of the other car they trashed were GTR (aka Godzilla) even thought it beat 911 turbo in skip pad, around track etc, other honorable mentions 911, Ferrari's, the list go on and on. I was fascinated it was like being in the moving Mean Girls all this hate, but the sad thing was that average age I would have to to was say around mid 20 to 30. Now mind you not all of folks there were a-hole but when one person had a valid argument the other would pounce all over them with childest name calling and just stupid remarks pretty sad.
I tell you it was the most fun I had in long time on fourm, to see how these jerks give BMW owner bad rep. Mind you not all BMW owner are like the ones on that forum but WTF

That optioned Audi S4 is nearly $60,000. The BMW M3 Sedan's base MSRP is $55,400. Yes, with options and title, it will likely shoot above $60,000, but the point is, price-wise, one could argue that the Audi S4 really competes more with the BMW M3.
BMW is coming out with an equally senseless contraption - the 335iS - which will boast numbers closer to the Audi S4 (in addition to boasting a price tag closer to the S4 and its own big brother, the M3).
I simply don't understand the point of cars like the S4 or the 335iS. They seem thoroughly pointless to me. Do you want to pay roughly the same amount of money for less performance? If so, then by all means go with the Audi S4/BMW 335iS over the M3, IS-F, or C63 AMG.

The S4 is a $43,000 car (invoice, not sticker).
The IS350 is is $34,000 car (invoice).
The fact they both run about 4.9 0-60 and low 13s in the 1/4 mile is a testament to how great a car the IS350 is for the money.
(ditto the 335i which is insanely more expensive than the IS350 if you option them similarly)
Optioned well, the S4 and the 335i both are closer to an IS-F in price than a 350, and the IS-F crushes both in 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
(all of the above discussing the vehicles without modding them)

1 other thing is that people tend to say lexus is just an upscale of toyota. they don't know about lexus but people who listen to those people saying that have like a moderator for their opinion even though that statement "lexus is just an upscale of toyota" is empty.
Or they say IS is just an upscale of Corolla.
1 other more convincing point is that Lexus is like an evolve of low-economic brand Toyota (speaking from their perspective.) and BMW is just pure-solid luxury brand from long history that has only been making luxury sport and never been in touch with low-economic projects like toyota. So from this logic, they all think that mistakes BMW & Mec made, like fuel pump, are just honest mistakes from the rich and the buyers who buy BMW & Mec are more proud of having those issue. the dumbs. speaking psychologically.

Comparing invoices of the IS350 and S4 isn't even enough, because the S4 requires extra "options" payment for features that come stock with the IS350.
And, considering the absolute difference alone can still be deceptive. You always have to take into account the time value of money.
$10,000 saved now is $20,000 saved 10 years down the road, is $40,000 saved 20 years down the road, is $80,000 saved 30 years down the road, and so on. This is a very rough and generous calculation assuming an average 7% return on investment via the stock market.

I'm assuming those "5 guys" are hating because the 350 body is identical to a 250. And if power is the argument, I got a ticket for doing 80mph, that's all the power I need to pay a $600.00 fine.

Tell me about it bro. I couldn't believe the fine I had to pay. It's actually $525.00 for the ticket, then I had to go to traffic school (38 bucks) then pay the court fees.
I was on hwy 280 near Woodside Road. If you are local, you know 280 is f#cken autobahn, 80mph are for sissies on 280. I see Honda Accords going 90mph there daily. Anyway, he got me. Now I have to f#cken drive like grandpa...cause the officer said, next ticket I get I will get a point in my driving record, which equals higher insurance.
