Trade In Value - Watch Out
For those of us with an IS350 included in the valve spring recall that is coming... I traded mine in on a new 2010 Infinity G37 Journey and found out that the value of my trade-in was substantially reduced because of the pending recall. The deal is that the car can't be resold as a "certified used car" with the recall outstanding and the work not done. Basically, the Infinity dealer has to wholesale the car to a Lexus dealer - who then sits on the car for 30-45 days until the parts are available from Japan and the work can be done. By that time, the 2011's are starting to appear, and the resale value takes another dip. I assume trading in on a new Lexus would still be subject to the same issue. I had no problems with my car for four years - but the recalls, one after another, have been an issue. I could go to Edmonds or Blue Book online and watch the value of my car go down and down. That has been a huge disappointment.
So, anyone thinking of replacing one of these models, should take the recall into consideration. It sounds like the recall work has to be done to get a realistic value for the car.
(I moved to the G37 because I got tired on the stiff ride and the hard, noisy summer tires on our wonderful SoCal roads....)

g37 will be a disappointment....inferior stereo, inferior gps, inferior torque, inferior interior materials.
I REALLY hope you like creaks and rattles. The ONLY thing those cars have over the IS line is the rev matching down shifts.

To add on, the g37 also weighs more, the gearing is nowhere near as aggressive as it is in the IS350, and it has slightly inferior F/R weight distribution.

I don't buy the recall/resale story at all. Anytime you trade a car in, you are losing. The dealer can spin it off to you any way he wants.
Also agree, the Nissan G37 is cheap inside and if you follow any G forum, you'll get the same amount of complaints.

lol..sorry to say but you got duped...they did the same exact **** to me and my gf when we tried to trade in her 09 corolla for the IS...the dealer said the same exact ****..same exact scpheal..about it being difficult to sell..even tried to get us to sign a waiver of recall crap...but trust me..just go to another dealer....like we did and instead of getting 5000 for the car..we got the full 12000 for the car..
