SeOuLiS is down
hello all,
i was just wondering if ANYONE had experienced what I experienced yesterday
so I washed my car on Thursday and I left my car in the garage till Sunday. and when I started up my car on Sunday morning, I noticed that the sound was different. It wasn't as "smooth" as it used to be. something was different. It sounded like the air wasn't flowing right. but I just thought that it was because I didn't drive it for 2 days.
anyways, after a cold start, the sound seemed to be back to normal, so I drove off to church. and that's when all these crazy things happened.
I drove about 2 miles, and all of sudden, my car gets super loud while I'm waiting on the red light. my foot was on the brake and the RPM wasn't moving at all, but the car sounded like I was revving up and then when I put my foot on the gas pedal, the gas pedal was shaking...and the gear got stuck on the 1st gear (I was on auto mode and the RPM wouldnt drop ), and all of sudden the gas pedal stopped working. I mean, I pressed on the gas pedal but the car wouldnt go...
and guess what?? the car stalled.....WTF??? my car is automatic........
so I managed to pull over to the side,,,turned off my car completely, and I turned it back on..and when I did, I have VSC light on...my display shows CHECK VSC..and when the light wouldnt go away even when I pressed the VSC button and I have CHECK Engine light on with so many other lights....
luckily I was able to drive back my car and I dropped it off at the Beverly Hill's Lexus today. they are charging me $175 just to check and it happens that my warranty was over last month...
anyways,,has anyone have a similar problem with their IS??

damn kenny... the engine stalling part and not responding sounds like the valve spring recall to me... but i thought it was only the 350's that had that problem

Totally sorry to hear about the problem...
Perhaps a bad sensor... or check your intake if you have one or your air filter is everything sealed nice and tight.
For me, it was a bad mod job on my part. I installed a poorly design cold air intake on my Corolla back in my college days. The hole for the O2 sensor was on the bend of the intake pipe. I just stuck my sensor in with the factory gromet, but it steal didn't have a clean seal.
I drove it, then the check engine light came on. The engine light would happen when I start my car and sometime when I accelerate. My car would become loud and shake hard. I can barely accelerate...so gas pedal doesn't work. It would stall too if I didn't gas the car. BTW, it was an automatic.
I quickly reverted back to stock and took my car to the dealer. I brought my car to the dealer and they told me that their was a error on the 02 sensor and if I done any work with the air filter. The reset the error and everything runs fine again on stock.

Same thing happened to me. I have a stick though. I took it in to Magnusen Lexus and they said it was my intake sending a bad signal. Then when I picked it up ALL the lights went on again! It stayed for another week, cause they found an oil leak that was kind of a recall. They said that 2 or 3 cylinders were misfiring. Next time I picked it up..fixed! Weird though!

Same thing happened to me when I was cleaning the intake and during re install, I forgot to plug the O2 sensor back in. The car started up, shook a bit and stalled out. I restarted it again and it sounded funny, and the car was making lots of loud noises, I turned it off and remembered I forgot to plug the O2 sensor in so I did that. Then all the warning lights came on despite repeated restarts, so I unplugged the O2 sensor, blew in it to clear the dust in the connectors and replugged it and everything went back to normal on the next restart.

thanks for all the replies everyone~!
I will find out tomorrow and will fill you all in
I hope it's just a massive carbon build up...
I didn't mess with my engine bay at all this time..so I really doubt that it was caused by my intake..but I shall double check tomorrow as well..
it would be really funny if they tell me that it is because of my Air suspension tho LOL we will see what they say...
and I have little over 50k...
