Default odd electronic steering question

OK, so this question may be premature, as I have yet to crawl around the front end with a pry bar myself to see if I have a loose bearing or tie-rod (I did ask Firestone to look about, and they found nothing) but I'm getting some odd feedback at the wheel that defies logic.

Rather hard to explain, but it seems like on occasion, I will get a sharp jerk to the right, without any noticeable road condition to cause it. It happens at odd times like straight line driving, where you think it suddenly wants to climb the road crown, yet once you correct for the single tug, it goes away and the car operates normally. Even happened braking once where it pulled hard right on touching brakes, yet subsequent attempts to repeat it with hands off the wheel, the car stopped straight and true.

Again, I hope to just find a loose part, but it did bring an interesting question to my mind.

Has anyone heard of the electronic assist steering doing something like this? I was wondering if it was possible that system could be getting a sporadic signal that might be attempting to assist me in a right turn regardless of my attempts to drive straight?

A loose part may still be the issue, but the inconsistency has me looking at other possibilities...

Thanks for input
Vince
