Will there ever be a 6MT is350?
Ive had my is250 6MT for a about 6 months now and I love it an and all but theres something that drives me nuts about it.... the lack of power. Seems like 99% of cars on the road could blow the doors off mine, it even seems very slow for a 6cyl 204hp engine.
Because of all the talk about how the is350 is a near perfect car I originally wanted the is350 but I NEEDED manual so I had to opt for the is250. My question is you think one day there will ever be a is350 in manual or am I stuck with my underpowered is250.
And what about the ISF, I havnt heard much about the transmissions in those.

I agree with above. I can't see them continuing production on this POS they call a manual transmission. I have the 250, but I'm a little disappointed in the feel of the transmission.
The F has an 8-speed automatic only. The 370z has either a 7-speed automatic or 6-speed manual. It seems like everything is going automatic and I think for my next car, I will be too.
I would think that the 250 is their final release for a manual trans in their whole line, unless you decide to go Toyota.

And toyota sure isnt going to give me what I need, closest thing they gave me to a sports car was the solara and I would be seen in one of those. I can see myself in the future switching over to infiniti g37 coupe, plenty of power and a gorgeous looking car. My only gripe with infiniti is the reliability because I have an 05 g35 sedan than hasnt been the greatest of cars.

lexus is going towards a more luxury crowd. so why would they even consider offering a manual in any of their cars is beyond me. i wouldnt be surprised if they decide to discontinue the manual trans in the IS line.

After you drive the F in manual mode especially at the track, you'll never want another manual. AMHIK.
Oh, the RA-61 gearbox from the Toyota Tacoma in your IS250 is certifiably junk. We've had many threads on this already.

Auto ftw. Manual + stop in go traffic = Hell. i hate to break it to you but, Auto shifts faster than any human possibly can. The only real benefit i can see with a manual is holding a gear, or downshifting a on a turn, which we can do in our auto with the paddle / sport stick gear limiter.

The IS was built to be a sports car..... it just makes sense to have a manual transmission, If we were talking about the LS I would agree with you. Yes i also understand that automatic can shift better than any person could but Im not racing, I bought the car enjoy driving it not to drag race it. For as long as there are sports car I believe they will continue making manual transmissions.

Theres nothing like changing gears speeding in the fast lane, downshifting, and using the motor to slow down on a manual. I miss manual, but i think were seeing basic economics here supply and demand. Don't manual 250's stay on the lot more than auto's? It doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. The only way this would work is if Lexus made another model car specifically geared towards the manual crowd, but even that would be a risk being that it's a luxury car, and the demographic that buys these types of cars wants automatics.

I love manual trannys as much as the next guy, but Toyota needs to get with the program and start offering real paddle shift trannys with a dual clutch.
I'm fine with most cars going auto in the future (roadsters & muscle cars are the exceptions), but I still need to be have complete control over the transmission, and the IS350 is sadly lacking in that department.
The rev-match in the G35/37 is awesome...Toyota needs to 'adopt' that feature as well

I wish they would make a 6MT IS350. I would definitely spring for that. I'm not a big fan of automatics. Besides, to compete in the sports sedan market, look how many others are offered with a true manual gearbox...pretty much all of them. They sell quite a bit of them as well.
