Default Is there a proper way to store rims?

I threw my stock rims/tires in my attic since i upgraded... is there anything i should do to them to store them up there, or is there no real concern? Anyone have any ideas/suggestions or knowledge on this? Last thing I'd want is to get them down in a year and something be wrong.

My only idea is clean them, and then wipe them down with WD-40?

Good question, as I'm about to do the same. The only thing I can think of is to make sure the tires don't dry out in the attic.

Your not gonna have any issue in the attic, but "they say" when you store rims and tires, to store them flat not stacked up. That way the weight is evenly distributed among the most surface area. But I've seen wheels stored stacked up for years and still been fine to use. It's more of a temperature/humidity issue with keeping the tires from dry rotting. In a house they should be fine. Outside under a tarp would probably kill the tires eventually.

Thanks for the input guys.

Houston is very humid, but i think the attic isnt as bad as the outside humidity.

And Rashoodz, i like that, i just dont think i want to make a table out of my stockers. haha

I don't know about your WD-40 method LOL. I would just line them up side by side and that's it.

How hot is it in the attic? If it's like mine in Atlanta, it's probably 130 degrees in the day time. I would not store tires in a hot place, they'll dry out and get hard quickly. I'd find a spot closer to normal air temp or if you can find a cool, dry place, even better.

Yeah, it's gotta be around 130 up there during the summer. I dont have much of an option (besides putting them in the garage, but theyd be in the way), so is there anything i can do to keep the tires from drying out and still be able to keep them in the attic?

Not really. You're just going to accept they'll dry out faster than if they were in a cooler spot. Heat is the enemy of any rubber, heat + time is guaranteed to make it dry out and crack.

Do you have a basement, spare room, closet, etc. that you can keep the wheels in?

what about the other end of the spectrum? i will be putting my stocks back on for the bad winter months and need to store my MMR GT1s, but my attic will be below freezing most of the winter.
